May was an exciting month around the Homeward Bound Campus. We started the month off with a family fun night sponsored by our new Program Committee member, Lisa. During this event, families were able to enjoy a community meal provided by Provecho and participate in a movement class.

Following this Cinco De Mayo themed event, our campus hosted its firstever teen job fair  where both program participants and members of the community, ages 15-24, were able to join us to learn about job opportunities nearby from businesses like Target, Goodwill, and Starbucks.

Our Youth Program’s garden received quite the makeover during the month of May thanks to our friends from QuikTrip! Along with fixing up the garden beds, these incredible volunteers helped the kids plant some peppers for some future salsa making.

While all of the excitement was taking place at Homeward Bound, our maintenance team was working hard to keep our campus in tiptop shape. In fact, they went so above and beyond that property technician, Fernando, has been named employee of the month. Fernando is a father to a sweet little boy with a little girl on the way and said his favorite memory of working with Homeward Bound was when “The kids from the Library Program gave me cards and paintings showcasing why they’re thankful for the Maintenance Team.” We are so grateful for Fernando and all that he does for Homeward Bound!
