Fall 2018 Impact Report
| From the CEO
Wow, what an amazing past half-year! I am excited to share with you some of our accomplishments!
In June, Homeward Bound received accreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA). COA’s program of quality improvement is designed to identify non-profit providers that have met high performance standards and have made a commitment to deliver the very best quality services.
Homeward Bound is only 1 of 4 in the United States to receive accreditation under the Housing, Stabilization & Community Living Service category. I am so proud of our dedicated staff and Board of Directors who strive each and every day to provide the very best programs for our clients!
Our goal is to provide pathways out of poverty for homeless families and you truly make this possible! None of these successes would be possible without YOU! Thank you for being a part of the Homeward Bound movement.

A LETTER FROM A RECENT HOMEWARD BOUND GRAD
“As I exit this program, I am grateful from the bottom of my heart how much it has helped me. This program gave me more than just a place to live but skills I will take with me for the rest of my life, that without thinking about it I use day to day now. This program has helped me more than any other I have ever been in before. All of you at Homeward Bound are truly the nicest and most compassionate people I have ever met it has been an honor being a part of this, thank you for guiding me to where I knew I could go. And last but not least, I want to thank Esmeralda Peterson, my case manager. Without you I wouldn't have been able to do this, you never gave up on me and I truly respect and admire you. I will miss you very much thank you for everything!”

This summer, BHHS Legacy awarded Homeward Bound with a grant large enough to train the entire Homeward Bound staff and board on Trauma Informed Care. This knowledge will transform our agency into a trauma-informed organization that is able to respond better to the Adverse Childhood Experiences and other forms of toxic stress that define our clients' lives. With the guidance of the Arizona Trauma Institute over the course of a year-long journey, each player within the organization- from executive leadership to new hires, will have the opportunity to customize a case management plan for each client based on their past experiences. Our hope is that these stronger relationships lead to a more efficient stay at Homeward Bound, and increased levels of success for each and every client.
